Paint the Story of Easter

Simple wooden crosses from the craft store were decorated by my children.  I gave each child a limited palette of craft paints.  The three palettes were warm, cool, and neutral colors.  That way if they mixed the colors they would not get a yucky color.  Then I let them paint!  The finished crosses told the story of Easter in a beautiful way.  Jesus came to earth (neutral color cross), He died on the cross for our sins (warm color cross), and He conquered death and ascended into heaven (cool color cross).

We hung these three crosses over the door into our kitchen to be a daily reminder of the faith that we believe.  Check out Dueteronomy 11: 18-20.

"Posy" Possibilities

Here is a cute way to take the posies that you have made and make a wreath for your front door!  This colorful wreath is just strips of fabric gathered with a needle and thread and hot glued on.  Felt pieces were used for the petals.

This wreath was made from yarn.  Just wrap the yarn around and around and around!

How-To Make Posy Pins...

  • First find a fabric that you like.  I decided to reuse an old t-shirt I found from a thrift store for this one.
  • You then trace & cut 18 circles + or -, depending on the weight or thickness of your fabric and how full you want your pin to be.
  • Next you cut wavy lines or "petals" around the circles.  You then fold the circle shape in half and then again. Hot glue it closed so it doesn't flap open.
  • Cut out slightly smaller felt circle for your backing.  After this is done, you can begin to glue down your "petals" around the outside edge of your backing circle.
  • Upon gluing all the way around, you start making your way in a bit to fill in the middle until you no longer see your backing and until it is as full as you like it to be.
  • Lastly, you cut a small piece of felt to attach the pin and/or hair clip to the back.
  • If you like, you can also add a button to the middle or leave it the way it is!
  • TA-DA, total cuteness!!!
